Eastern Michigan University - Eastern Michigan University (EMU) is a comprehensive, co-educational public university located in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Founded in 1849 as Michigan State Normal School, it became the Michigan State Normal College in 1899, then Eastern Michigan College in 1956, and finally Eastern Michigan University in 1959.

Ray Stannard Baker - Ray Stannard Baker, (April 17, 1870-July 12, 1946), American journalist and author, was born in Lansing, Michigan as David Grayson. After graduating from Michigan Agricultural College (now Michigan State), he attended law school at the University of Michigan in 1891 before launching his career as a journalist in 1892 with the Chicago News-Record, where he covered the Pullman Strike and Coxey's Army in 1893.
